FACT, the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology is the UK’s leading organisation for commissioning, exhibiting, promoting and supporting innovation in the fields of film, video and new media. Its links with northern creative industries make it a natural location for our Media Access Bureau.

There is no car parking at FACT but there are car parks at Steel Street, Paradise Street (24 hrs) and Hanover Street (24 hrs).

Directions

FACT is in the city centre, within walking distance of the main rail and bus stations.

Travelling by car

Directions from the M62:

At the end of the motorway, follow signs for the City Centre and Cathedrals (3 miles). Turn left at the Metropolitan Cathedral onto Hope Street. Turn Right at the traffic lights onto Hardman Street. At the church ruins of St. Luke's, turn left (at the traffic lights) onto Berry Street. The second right is Wood Street.

Travelling by rail

The nearest railway station is Liverpool Central (3 mins walk). Liverpool Lime Street is a 12 mins walk away.

Travelling by bus

The nearest bus stops are Berry Street, Paradise Street and Hardman Street.

Travelling on foot

  • From Lime Street station (with St. George's Hall directly in front of you) turn left and walk along Lime Street for 50 metres until you reach the end of the station. Cross Lime Street at the lights by the Crown Hotel to Elliot Street Bus station.
  • Follow pedestrianised Elliot Street by taking the steps down from the bus station. Continue past Clayton Square shopping Centre (on your left) and Tesco Metro (on your right) until you reach Church Street (a large shopping street). Turn left when you reach Church Street continue to the end (about 50 metres) and cross Hanover Street to Bold Street via the traffic lights.
  • Follow Bold Street up the slight hill for 200 metres, at about 100 metres Bold Street ceases to be a pedestrians only zone, continue until you see RopeWalks square on your right, by the fruit stall. FACT is across RopeWalks Square on Wood Street.

    Our comprehensive Mac Suite is designed to cater for all Mac users, including design companies, new media organisations, freelances and broadcasters.

    Within the Mac Suite of your local Media Access Bureau (MAB), you’ll discover a range of Mac compatible equipment. In fact, you’ll have everything you need to:

    • Upload files

      Our industry-standard ingest system works with all common file types. Your media and data files – however large – can be transferred quickly and easily, from your format and placed onto a storage area.

    • Edit files

      Our comprehensive editing facility allows you to make final refinements to your file. Standard-industry software caters for a range of play-back and recording media formats in popular use.

      Once you’re happy with the result, the file can be stored electronically for distribution at a later date or transmitted via the network.

    • Store & send files

      With our high performance fibre-optic network, your data and media files can be transmitted securely, at incredibly high speeds (100mbps).

      A secure, on-site storage device can be accessed from all workstations within the bureau. Upload and store data until you’re ready to transmit or distribute the information.

    While virtual communication is a quick and efficient way to work, it’s sometimes more effective to sit down face-to-face.
